Joseph J. Carlin

Joseph J. Carlin, 79, of Downingtown, passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Neighborhood Hospice of West Chester.  He was the beloved husband of the late Lorraine J. Carlin, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage prior to her passing in 2010.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Edwin and Margaret McVeigh Carlin.

Joe graduated from St. Thomas More Catholic High School in 1956 and has been active with their Alumni Association.  He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, especially the Phillies where he enjoyed traveling to Clearwater for spring training.

Mr. Carlin was a devout Catholic.  He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Downingtown and a fourth degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus De La Salle Council #590.

Joe is survived by his sons, Joseph J. Carlin (Brenda), Lawrence J. “Larry” Carlin (Kristin) and Edwin J. Carlin (Kristin); a brother, John Carlin (Charlotte); two sister-in-laws, Bernice Carlin and Peggy Bradley; five grandchildren, Joe (Katie), Ed, Erinn, Christopher and Kennedy Carlin; a great grandson Connor and by a host of nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a brother, Edwin Carlin.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 19, 2018 at St. Joseph Church, 332 Manor Avenue, Downingtown, where family and friends will be received from 8:45-10:45 a.m.

Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Downingtown.
