John W. McEvoy, Sr.

John William McEvoy, Sr., age 88, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2023.  He was the husband of Ann Marie McEvoy, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage.

Born in Newark, NJ, John was a son of the late John and Catherine (McGill) McEvoy.  He graduated from Barringer High School in 1951.  John continued his education earning a bachelor’s degree from the former Glassboro State University now Rowan University.  He retired in 1993 from Prudential Insurance Company as the General Manager of Computer Systems.

John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  In his spare time, he enjoyed a round of golf and playing poker with his poker group.  John was a member for many years of Knights of Columbus Council 4160, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Doylestown PA and for the last few years he was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 17887, Saint Robert Bellarmine Parish, Warrington PA. His fondest memories were made spending time with his family and friends. 

John is survived by his wife, Ann Marie; children, John McEvoy, Jr. (Allison) of Downingtown, Karen Johnson (Raymond) of Chadds Ford, Steven McEvoy (Christine) of Moorestown, NJ and Ken McEvoy (Stephanie) of Doylestown; grandchildren, Katherine Oblinsky, Kelly Cocke, Kasey LaTorre, Lindsay Resler, Steven McEvoy, John McEvoy, Zachary McEvoy, Connor McEvoy and Samantha McEvoy; and great grandchildren, Sarah Oblinsky and Lily Resler.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward McEvoy and James McEvoy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 am on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 856 Euclid Ave, Warrington, PA, where family and friends will be received from 10 am until 11:15 am.  Interment will follow in St. John Neumann Cemetery, 3797 County Line Rd, Chalfont, PA.
