John Joseph Green, Jr., 84, of Downingtown, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Brandywine Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Jill R. Strichek Green, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John Joseph and Catherine Grace Hogan Green.
John worked as a butcher throughout his career with various grocery stores. He loved fishing and watching the Philadelphia Phillies, Duke basketball and Penn State Football. John enjoyed watching his son play baseball and football. He also loved relaxing in his favorite chair while he cuddled with his dogs Katie and Freddy.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his son’s fiancé, Rena L. Davis and her daughter, Audrianna Lewis; and by his sister, Grace Woolfrey. He was predeceased by his son, Shawn P. Green and his siblings, Betty May Green, Bill Green and Jim Green.
A public viewing will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2021 from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 1060 W. Lincoln Highway, COATESVILLE. Due to the Covid pandemic, the funeral service will be held privately with the family.
Interment will be held privately at Fairview Cemetery in Coatesville.
