J. (John) Edwin Cook, 93, of Downingtown, passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Simpson Meadows.

He was the husband of the late A.  Elaine (Kemery)  Cook, to whom he was married for 65 years. He was the oldest son of the late G. Marshall and M. Christine (Ramsay) Cook.

Edwin was born at home in West Bradford Township on March 22, 1928. He attended Cottage School in West Bradford Twp. and Scott Sr. High in Coatesville.

Mr. Cook farmed until 1957 and then worked as a crane operator for G.O. Carson, Inc., from where he retired.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church of West Chester, a Gideon, and a 70 year member of Brandywine Grange #60 and Pomona #3. Edwin and Elaine met at a square dance at the Grange and continued dancing with the Snaparoos Club into their 80’s.

Edwin is survived by his children, Diane Pazdalski (Jon), and Darrell Cook; grandsons: Ross Shacklett (Katie), Daniel Shacklett; and great-grandson: Ryan Shacklett. He is also survived by his brother: Delmar Cook (Mary), and sisters: Cordelia MacArthur, Charlotte Ward, and Corinne Baliff. Besides being predeceased by his parents and wife, he was predeceased by an older sister, Margaret, who died in infancy.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 26 at 10:30 AM James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown. A visitation will be held from 9:30-10:15 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Birmingham-Lafayette Cemetery, West Chester. It is kindly requested that all guests wear face coverings and practice social distancing.
