John “Bob” Ahle, 91, of Downingtown, formerly of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, passed away the morning of March 4, 2020 at Penn Medicine Hospice in West Chester. He was the son of the late James M. Ahle and Margaret Brown as well as a loving husband to the late Dolly Ahle for 60 years of marriage.
Bob worked 43 years for Bell Telephone of New Jersey. He started outside as a lineman and splicer then in his later years moved inside to computer systems management and served in the Army during the Korean War as a Morterman assigned to NATO forces in Trieste, Italy.
Anyone who knew Bob will remember him for his love of the Jersey Shore and the ocean. He enjoyed eating and had a fondness for shrimp, mussels and an occasional Rolling Rock or red wine. Bob took great pride in his home. He was a gardener and grew the best tomatoes. He maintained a meticulous lawn well into his 80’s.
Bob lived independently on his own terms up to the end of his life.
Bob is survived and remembered by his children, John Ahle (Bonnie); and Lorraine Clauhs (Ron); grandchildren; Steven Martin Jr., Andrew Clauhs (Catherine), Robert Clauhs (Jessica), Hope Clauhs, Katherine Clauhs, Philip Clauhs, John Ahle III, Michael Ahle; great grandchildren, Emma Clauhs, Andrew Clauhs Jr., Victoria Clauhs, Annabelle Clauhs; and sibling, James Ahle II.
A funeral liturgy will be held Tuesday March 10 at 11:00AM at the James J. Terry Funeral Home Downingtown. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30AM – 10:45AM.
