JoAnn Olson, 90, of Glenmoore, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Tel Hai. She was the beloved wife of the late Eugene D. Olson, who passed away in 2012 and whom she shared 57 years of marriage.
Born October 20, 1928 in Los Angeles, CA, she was the daughter of the late John W. Madison and Josephine Evans Simmons.
JoAnn was a Homemaker most of her married life. She was a member of Grace Covenant Church in Exton. She loved to play bridge, knit, sew, crosstitch or any kind of craft she could get her hands on. She was always involved in anything her daughters were involved in, including Girl Scout leader, young life leader, church youth group leader or marching band volunteer. JoAnn and her husband were world travelers whether it be with family or with their close-knit group of friends. Their married life consisted of living in California, Texas, Pennsylvania, Washington and back to Pennsylvania where she lived with her daughter and family for the last 8 years.
JoAnn is survived by her daughters, Ann Marie Wuertz and husband, Chris of Glenmoore and Jana Sue Swan and husband, Carl, of Gig Harbor, Washington. She is also survived by her 4 granddaughters, Heather Swan, Courtney, Alysia & Nicole Wuertz. Her granddaughters were her pride and joy and she loved spending time with them and watching them grow up.
A celebration of life service will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, January 6, 2019, at East Brandywine Baptist Church, 999 Horseshoe Pike, Downingtown, where family and friends may call from 2:45-3:45 p.m. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made online in her name to Coatesville Young Life at http://giving.younglife.org/nccbanquet and mark your gift for a camp scholarship (the chosen area will show as Northern Chester County – PA28). This will allow students less fortunate to afford to go to Young Life Camp this winter.
