Janice Davis Lyons, 92, passed away on Sunday, November 12 at Neighborhood Hospice Inpatient Unit with her family at her side. She was the wife of Gerald James Lyons III, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage at his passing in 2009.
Born in her family home in Downingtown, she was the only child of Howard B.F. Davis MD and Mary Connell Davis. Janice lived in the Downingtown area for most of her life. She was a 1943 graduate of Downingtown High School and a 1946 graduate of the Chester County Hospital Nursing School.
After devoting the earlier years of her marriage to her family, Janice volunteered at the CCIU Child Development Center and was a member of the Board of the Visiting Nurse Association (now Neighborhood Health). When Janice and Gerald moved to Honey Brook, she participated in several ministries at St. Peter Parish.
Janice is survived by her children: Michael Dennis Lyons and his wife, Lynn Salmon, Kevin Davis Lyons and his wife Ruth, Janice Woods and her husband Roger in whose care she spent her later years; and by daughters-in-law Marianne C. Lyons and Patrice Lyons. Janice greatly enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren, Kathleen (David Dougherty), Kevin (Shelley Morawski), Brendan (Elisa), Matthew (Jennifer), John (Lyndsay), Daniel, Michael, Abigail and Stephen and great-grandchildren Patrick and Leah. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Marjorie Kipp and several cousins. She was also predeceased by her son, Patrick Joseph.
Mrs. Lyon’s Eulogy will begin at 10:45 a.m. followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 20, 2017 at St. Peter Church, 2835 Manor Road, West Brandywine, PA 19320. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, November 19th from 3-5 p.m. at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown, and on Monday at the church from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Downingtown.
