James J. Slowey, Sr.

January 19, 1926 ~ July 23, 2021 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Tribute

           James Joseph Slowey, Sr., 95 of Port Charlotte, FL, passed away on Friday, July 23, 2021 at his son’s residence in Lockport, NY. He was the loving husband of Constance V. “Connie” (Rightmyre) Slowey, who passed away in 2006.

            Born in Syracuse, NY on January 19, 1926, he was the son of the late Alexander J. and Ruth W. (Kearney) Slowey. James graduated from Syracuse University and went on to become an Assistant Superintendent of Labor Relations in the Railroad industry. James was a proud US Navy Veteran, serving during World War II. He enjoyed visiting casinos, watching horse racing, was an avid golfer and he enjoyed spending time with his family.

            Surviving are his children James J. Slowey, Jr., husband of Judith, of Lockport, NY, Deborah L. Raguso, wife of Richard of Wimauma, FL, Colleen M. Slowey of Coatesville, PA; grandchildren James J. Slowey III, husband of Rie, Rachel Slowey, Christopher Slowey, husband of Heather, Stephanie Price, wife of Robert, Nicholas Birch, husband of Kaitlin, Danielle Grobman; great grandchildren Tristan, Ryan, Loretta, Levon, Hayley and Savannah. He was preceded in death by his son Robert S. Slowey, and siblings Samuel Slowey, Thomas Slowey and Elizabeth O’Brien.


            Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at 11 AM at Saints Philip and James Catholic Church, 107 N. Ship Road, Exton, PA 19341. There will be no visitation prior. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, West Chester.

            In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of James to his granddaughter’s foundation, The Giving Girls.
