Isolde Pohl, 91, passed away Friday, October 8, 2021 at Chester County Hospital. Born the daughter of the late Leopold Moos and Berta Jost, Isolde was loving wife of 49 years to Hanns Pohl until his passing in 2008.

In her youth Isolde belonged to the Gymnastics League in her hometown Weilheim, Germany and the Lutheran Youth Group. After her two children Christoph and Claudia came along they became her main focus for years to come as she guided them into adulthood and beyond. After the family moved from Ludwigshafen, Germany first to Williamsburg, VA and then Florham Park, NJ she joined the local garden clubs and in NJ the Suburbanites, a social club for connoisseurs of regional culture and cuisine. Upon moving to the Downingtown – Coatesville area she became active in programs in the Messiah Lutheran Church.   

Throughout her life Isolde was always and foremost taking care of her family in every sense of the word. She, together with her husband, provided a loving, nurturing home and helped avail her family all possible learning opportunities and used many different ways to further broaden the family’s already expansive cultural horizon. Cooking, baking, travelling, reading, gardening, hiking and watching birds were some of the activities she pursued, some into her final days as her body limited more and more what her possible range of those activities could be. But her positive outlook allowed her to enjoy even the ever decreasing options. Because of her indomitable spirit, she survived not only survived the ravages of WWII, but also cancer and advanced heart disease for nearly 20 years beyond their diagnoses.

Isolde is survived by her son, Christoph Pohl; grandchildren Marcus, Erik and Madison; daughter in law Christine; son in law Timothy; nieces Claudia, Ulrike and Silke; nephews Gunther, Peter and Christian.

In addition to her parents, Isolde is preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years Hanns; daughter Claudia; brother Leopold.

Services for Isolde will be held Saturday, October 16, 2021 at the James J. Terry Funeral Home Downingtown Location beginning at 11 AM. A visitation will be held prior at the funeral home from 9:45AM to 10:45AM. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Downingtown. A live stream link is available above.
