Iris Roberta Maloney, 82, of Downingtown, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 10, 2017 at her residence in Villa St. Martha.
She was the beloved wife of the late James T. Maloney, who preceded her in death after 15 years of marriage on October 2, 1970, while on active duty as a Major in the Air Force.
Born on May 13, 1935 in the Bronx, New York, Iris was the daughter of the late Robert and Margaret (Daisy) Stokes.
Iris graduated magnum cum laude from Immaculata University and was the recipient of the Amethyst Award from the University for her outstanding contribution and achievement to her church and community. She remained allegiant to her alma matter as a member of the Immaculata University Board of Trustees, Alumnae/Board of Governors, Alumni Fundraising Committee and the Art Show Committee.
After 23 years of service, Iris retired as the Vice President/Chief Executive Officer for the Newcomen Society of North America.
Iris was also a member of the Great Valley Chapter of the Paoli Hospital Auxiliary and served on the Election Board for Uwchlan Township.
Iris is survived by her only son, Jim and his wife, Cindy; three grandsons, JT, Connor and Keegan; two great grand children, Colton and Ember; and nieces and nephews, Margaret, Audrey, Richard and Michael.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 to 10:45 on Thursday, July 13th at St. Joseph Church, 338 Manor Ave., Downingtown, where Iris’ memorial mass will be held at 11am.
She will be interred privately at St. Agnes Cemetery in West Chester.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Iris’ honor to Immaculata University, 1145 King Road, Room VM 243, Immaculata, PA 19345 or by visiting immaculata.edu/giving.
