Helen L. Stec, 95, of Philadelphia, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.
She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph J. Stec, with whom she shared 59 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2003.
Born in Syracuse, NY, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Sophie Murzyn Pietrzak.
Helen was a special person who found her joy in conversation with others. Her years as a waitress was perfect for her, as she always had the opportunity to make others happy. This skill made her popular with all that she met. Everyone knew Helen and she was known for her generosity and for never leaving her home hungry.
Helen was affectionately known by her grandchildren and great grandchildren as “Mumsie”. “She loved them so much and they loved her. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched. We all will miss her phone calls. Take care, Mom.”
Helen is survived by her children; Robert J. Stec (Mary) and Joanne Stec Takata (Dennis); her brother Lenard Pietrzak, two sisters; Irene Bukowski and Eleanor Baux; four grandchildren, Christopher Stec (Michelle), David Stec (Stacy), Theresa McDonald (Jeremy), and Brendan Stec; along with 6 great grandchildren; Julia, Joseph, Monica, Ann Marie, Benjamin and Olivia.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Church, 120 St. Elizabeth Drive, Chester Springs, where family and friends will be received from 8:45-9:45 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Helen’s honor may be made to The Protestant Home 6500 Tabor Rd. Philadelphia Pa, 19111 or a charity of one’s choice.
Arrangements are being handled by the James J. Terry Funeral Home, Downingtown.
