Haywood M. Guions

Haywood M. Guions, 74, of Downingtown, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Lankenau Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Linda J. Stephens Guions.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late William M. and Louise M. Crimm Guions.

Haywood was a graduate of South Philadelphia High School. He worked as a Shipper Receiver for the Alex C. Fergusson Company for over 44 years and retired in 2005 when the company moved to Chambersburg. He was a member of the Warehouse Local 168.

He was called to serve in the US Army from March of 1966 to June of 1967 and then transitioned to the Army Reserves where he was discharged honorably in 1972 with a National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and he had earned an Expert Badge for the Rifle.

He was an avid bowler and bowled several times a week. He also enjoyed cruising, spending time with his grandchildren and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Haywood was a family man. His words of wisdom could help you through any problem. He was a natural comedian and could always make you laugh when you needed it most.

Haywood was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Rebecca Maxwell and her husband Dale, Jr., Rachelle Chamberlain and her husband Bob and Rena Davis; four grandchildren, Caneim and Tayani Maxwell, Audrianna Lewis and Jayden Chamberlain. He is also survived by his siblings, Lloyd, Juanita, Evelyn, Alicia and Cheray. Haywood was predeceased by 3 siblings, Eloise Darby, Mark Guions and Hope Guions.

Even in our grief, the memory of him heartens and strengthens us all.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 28, 2017 at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown. Family and friends will be received from 9:45-10:45 am.

Interment will be private with the family.
