Harry A. Wickes, III, 93, of Downingtown, passed away on Friday, June 8, 2018 at his home. He was the beloved husband of the late Roberta N. Wickes, with whom he shared 64 years of marriage prior to her passing in 2011.
Born in Egg Harbor, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Harry A. Wickes, Jr. and Dorothy Hand Wickes.
Harry proudly served his Country in the United States Navy during World War II.
He was the owner/operator of Harry’s Barber Shop in Haddon Twp, NJ before retiring in 1990 and then he continued to work as a barber for Al Cook’s Barber Shop in West Chester up until a few weeks ago.
For over 40 years, he was a member of the German Social Club, Cannstatter Volksfest-Verein in Philadelphia. He loved to play pinochle and going out to dinner of Friday nights with the card group.
Mr. Wickes is survived by his children, Marsha Louise Wickes, Laura Ruth Corradi and Eric Justin Wickes; three grandchildren, Dana Dunn, Steven Gaughan and Christopher Gaughan; and four great grandchildren, Austin and Keira Dunn and Leia and Conner Gaughan.
A funeral service will take place at 7 PM on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown, where family and friends may call from 5:45-6:45 PM.
Interment will be private in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
