Gloria E. Castro

Gloria E. Castro, 88, of Downingtown, Pennsylvania, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, August 27, 2020.

Gloria was born in the Philippines to her parents, Moises and Salud Elauria, on January 21, 1932. She graduated college from the University of The Philippines with a Bachelor’s degree in Home Technology, Class of 1955.  She was a professor at the Mountain State Agricultural College.

After her husband’s death, she immigrated to the United States. She retired in 2004 from the Nutrition and Dietary Department at Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation Hospital in Malvern, Pennsylvania.

Gloria enjoyed and shared her passion for gardening and talent in cooking and baking. Her many friends and former co-workers loved her dearly. She will be missed by all whose lives she has touched.

She is preceded in death by her husband Alejandro Castro and her brothers Armando, Mario, and Ildefonso Elauria.

Gloria is survived by her sons Arnel and wife Angela Castro, Alvin and wife Gail Castro, Alan and wife Leilani Castro. Sisters Annie Elauria and Zeny and husband, Willie Gomez. Grandchildren Christina, Arianna, Kai, Ashley, and Teilo Castro. Nephews Wilfred and wife Connie Gomez and Wylie and wife Erica Gomez. Niece Laurene and husband, Tim Johnson. Grand-nieces Samantha, Jessica, and Amanda Gomez.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at St. Joseph Parish, Downingtown, PA, where family and friends will be received from 9:45 am until 10:45 am.  Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery.
