George W. "Jay" Bauernschmidt, Jr, 55, of Downingtown, passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 3, 2017.  He was the beloved husband of Sally Fanelli Bauernschmidt, with whom he shared 29 years of marriage.
 
Born in West Chester, he was the son of the late George W. and Kathryn A. Bauernschmidt.  Jay is survived by his three sons, Daniel J., Andrew J. and Brian M; adopted son Timothy; three brothers, William (Debbie), Robert, and James (Kim); Tim (predeceased) sister in law, Julie and two grandchildren, Lucas Ayden and Lennon Joy.  
 
Jay loved the outdoors. As the co-owner of Irish Greens landscaping for 35+ years, he also enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, and volunteering with the Boy Scouts.  He brought joy and happiness to everyone whose path he crossed.  He believed that the best way to enjoy time off the job is to have a strong work ethic.  He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan but mostly enjoyed spending time with his family and his precious grandchildren.  
 
An evening viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown. 

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Downingtown Country Club, 85 Country Club Drive, Downingtown.   Please come prepared to share your favorite memories.  
 
Interment will be held privately with family at the Green Mount Cemetery, West Chester.
