Frances Alma Coats of Downingtown

Frances Alma Coats, 91, of Downingtown, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017 at Simpson Meadows in Downingtown.
She was the wife of the late Fred Howard Coats, who passed away in 1982.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, she is the daughter of the late Francis and Marion Montague Cunningham.
Alma graduated from Overbrook High School where she was a Drum Majorette. She was a member of The Wallingford Garden Club and Women’s Club. During her adult years she held various positions with Bell Telephone, Lord and Taylor and later was a clerk at the Chester County Courthouse where she served as a Tip Staff and a Clerk in the Prothonotary Office. In 1992, Alma went forward at the Billy Graham Crusade in Veterans Stadium
She is survived by her two children, Gwenne B. Alexander (David) of Coatesville, and Gregory H. Coats of Reston, Virginia. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Betty Seemuller and Marion Lucas.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 11th at Simpson Meadows, 101 Plaza Drive, Downingtown, where family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be private at the request of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to The ALS Association.
