Florence Elizabeth Gross, 93, of Downingtown, loved by all as Nan, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2020, peacefully at her home surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Philadelphia, Nan was the daughter of the late John and Florence (Chester) Gross. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Gross, and his wife, Florence.
Nan is survived by her girls, Michele Padgeon (Damien) of Downingtown, Nicole Conroy (Christopher) of West Chester, and Erica Bealer (Steven) of Birdsboro. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Riley and Christopher Jr.
Nan’s life revolved around her love for her family and the Lord. She was always up for new adventures and enjoyed meeting new friends that she would immediately ask and remember their birthdays. She looked forward to holiday and birthday celebrations as there were plenty of options for food, but most importantly she could be close to her loved ones. Her compassion for others was beyond compare and she always had a story, smile or piece of candy to share. In addition to spending time with those she loved, she enjoyed puzzle books, playing draw poker, shopping at the dollar store, and ordering pina coladas “without the whiskey”.
Nan often reminded us of the promise of her Lord, “when two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”
An outdoor funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at 1 PM at James J. Terry Funeral Home, Inc., Downingtown. Interment will follow the service at Hillside Cemetery, Roslyn. Due to the pandemic, there will not be a visitation preceding the service. It is kindly requested that all guests wear face coverings and practice social distancing during the service.
In lieu of flowers, please offer prayers for peace and comfort for all those touched by Nan’s life.
