Eugene “Gene” V. Anthony, age 79, of Downingtown, PA passed away peacefully on Friday, May 11, 2018, at Neighborhood Hospice, West Chester, PA.
Gene was born in Frackville, PA to the late Abraham and Clara (nee Habeeb) Anthony. Gene served with the Air National Guard for 6 years. Gene and his wife, Yvonne, moved to Downingtown in 1960 and was a local business owner of National By-Products Co. and Cedars International, Inc. for the past 58 years. Gene‘s unique and generous trademark was his gift of a gold dollar coin to children, he enjoyed making them happy. He also enjoyed family night, horses, target shooting, giving advice, going out to dinner and driving his flashy pick-up truck. Gene was the kind of person that received joy by giving and sharing with others. He was a man who will truly be missed by all who knew him, especially his family.
In addition to his parents, Gene is preceded in death by his brother John Anthony.
Gene is survived and will be missed by his loving and devoted wife Yvonne (nee Bruno) Anthony, whom together shared 59 years of marriage, two sons; Michael (Lillian) and Gene (Connie) Anthony, 4 grandchildren; Christina, Vincent, David and Christopher Anthony, his brother Richard Anthony and his sister Ann Anthony, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Gene was so looking forward to his grandchildren’s upcoming weddings; Vincent to Stacey Soto and David to Samantha Baxter who brings with her, little Eliza, which Gene considered his great granddaughter.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday evening, May 15, 2018, 6:00-8:00PM and again on Wednesday morning May 16, 2018, 9:15-10:15AM, at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, PA 19335. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00AM at St. Joseph Church, 332 Manor Avenue, Downingtown, PA 19335. Burial will follow to St. Joseph Cemetery, Downingtown, PA.
