Emery Vean Gigger

May 6, 1954 ~ December 21, 2021 (age 67) 67 Years Old

Tribute

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Emery Gigger, 67, of Downingtown, on December 21, 2021, the darkest day of this year. Emery was a much-loved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, colleague, and friend. He will be truly missed in so many ways.

Emery was born May 6,1954 in Pocatello, Idaho to Ida Lyons Gigger and the late Charles Gigger. He grew up as part of a large, close-knit family. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and graduated from Highland High School in 1973. He thrived at Brigham Young University and graduated in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science. Emery was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and dedicated his life to the service of his fellow man. He served a 2-year mission to Scotland (1973-75) for the LDS church, which he talked about fondly.

Emery married his college sweetheart, Marbi Buell in 1983 and together they had four children (Tiffany, Kent, Laura and Emma). Emery was devoted to his family. He lived for them and did everything he could to make sure they felt loved and supported.

Emery took pride in working hard at everything he did – from his 22-year career with AstraZeneca, to maintaining a beautiful yard, to his care and attention to detail in folding laundry.

Emery enjoyed BYU sports, telling stories, getting inspiration from HGTV, working in his yard, eating a warm sandwich and spoiling his cat and his grandkids. He never had enough fine china, Hallmark pop-up cards, national geographic magazines or survival tools. Emery was a wonderful man with many talents, quirks and unique ways. Many will feel the loss of his passing.

Mr. Gigger is survived by his wife of 38 years, Marbet “Marbi” Gigger; four children, Tiffany Perman (Steve), Kent Gigger (Michelle), Laura Schmidt (Tyler), and Emma Becker (Matt); seven grandchildren, Noah, Thomas, Zoey, Aria, Emery, Mila and Meg; and loyal and grumpy companion, Max (the cat).

He is also survived by his mother, Ida Gigger; sisters, Marvi Gigger (Terry Patrick), Janice Newsome, Ceva Cottrell, Tami Hall (Bruz), and Starla Prescott (Bruce); Wayne Nelson (Tanya); brothers, Greg Gigger (Laurie) and Kent Gigger (Roxanne); in-law’s, Kent and Carol Buell, Bart and Thea Buell, Todd Buell, Randy and Leslie Buell, and Eben and Connie Buell; as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Gigger; sister, Tanya Nelson; brother-in-law, Jerry Cottrell; sister-in-law, Laurie Buell; mother-in-law, Heloise Buell; and father-in-law, Wales Buell.

Mr. Gigger's funeral services will be taking place in Cottonwood Heights, Utah on Saturday, January 8th from Memorial Mountain View Mortuary. To view a livestream of his service beginning at 11 am [ 1 pm EST ], please click here.

In lieu of flowers, the family would love if you'd plant a tree or flower in Emery’s honor; some of his happiest moments were being outside in the garden.
