Ellen P. Gunther

Ellen P. Gunther 79, of West Chester, passed away Friday November 15, 2019 at the Chester County Hospital. She was the wife of Arthur K. Gunther with whom she shared 60 years of marriage.

Ellen was born in Havertown, Pa and was the daughter of the late Lewellen T. & Lucy E. Sorber.

Ellen was a graduate of Haverford High School. She had worked as a controller for Crystal Concrete before her retirement.        

Ellen and her husband were residents of Hershey Mills Retirement Community for the past 12 years. After spending many years boating on the Chesapeake Bay with her children & grandchildren, Ellen & Kurt Sr. moved to Florida where she enjoyed her life in the sun and on the water.  Prior to moving to Hershey’s Mills, Ellen and Kurt Sr. operated and lived at the Cove Marina in Elkton, Maryland where she was able to continue her original love of the Chesapeake Bay with her family & friends.

She enjoyed her collectables, and was a true animal lover with complete dedication to her dogs. Ellen enjoyed doll making, knitting, crocheting and gardening.  A loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother she was a giving and supportive foundation of the family and she awarded everyone with the gift of confidence.  She was always willing and able to share her time, advice and love for her family.

Survivors include her husband, Kurt Sr.; Sons; Kurt (wife Judy) & Fred (Candice); Daughter Laura Hasen ( Mark); Grandchildren Kimberly, Kristen Finkbohner (Andrew), Malinda Collins (James), Bill Hasen, Chase, Blake, Brooke, Drew, Bobby & Josh Kohl and great grandchildren; Owen, Logan, Addison, Lincoln, Greyson.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial service on Friday November 22, 2019 at 2 PM from the James J. Terry Funeral Home 736 E. Lancaster Ave, Downingtown where friends may visit from 12:00 to 1:45 PM

The family would like to thank the staff of Chester County Hospital for their wonderful care and support.
