Elizabeth B. “Bette” Dunn-Couch, 85, formerly of Delaware County, passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at her residence in Elkton, MD. She was the loving wife of B. Donald Couch, sharing 10 years of marriage.
Born in Philadelphia on December 2, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Louis Santore and the late Angela Nunziata “Julia” Riess. Julia was married to William Riess, and although he was her step-father, Bette loved him like he was her own Dad. Bette was a Realtor and Real Estate Broker, working with Century 21 for 40 years in Delaware County. She was a graduate of Little Flower Catholic High School, a Girl Scout Leader for over 15 years, CCD educator, and helped to run a grief support group for St. Gabriel’s in Norwood, PA, where she was also a Eucharistic Minister. Prior to moving to Elkton, Bette lived at St. Mary of Providence in Elverson. She enjoyed traveling, reading, cooking and word puzzles, but most important was spending time with her family and friends.
Surviving in addition to her husband are children Patrice Kinney (Jeffrey) of Elkton, MD, William J. Dunn (Monica) of Essington, PA, Donna Byrne (John) of Glenmoore, PA, James L. Dunn, Jr. ( Kellie) of Secane, PA; step-children Donna Doherty (Richard) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and James Couch (Julie) of Amarillo, TX; 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren with 3 more on the way; brother Anthony Santore (Cathy); a cousin, who was more like a sister and daughter, Joy DeSalis and Judy Wall, respectively, and half sister Mary Lou Gross; as well as one aunt, cousins and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter Judith Anne Dunn, and her first husband James L. Dunn, Sr., to whom she was married for 56 years.
Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Saint Peter Catholic Church, 2835 Manor Road, Coatesville, PA 19320. Visitation will be held from 10 – 10:45 am prior to mass at the church. Burial will take place privately at Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
