Elizabeth J. Buffington

Betty Everhart Buffington, 92, of Downingtown, PA, left this life for Heaven on September 15, 2021.  Born January 4, 1929 in Coatesville, PA, Betty was a beautiful, devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. 

Betty was an amazing woman of faith and an inspiration to all who knew her.  Her prayers and the influence of her Godly life will be an active blessing and example to those she left to cherish her memories: her children; Karen Doss (Jim), Beverly Foster (Jimmy), and Bruce Buffington (Janet); four grandchildren; Jodie Rice (Keith), Amy Fidler (fiance Josh Smith), Lyndsey Buffington, and Army Major Matthew Buffington (Gwen); seven great-grandchildren; Jeremy Berry, Tanner Flinn, twins Claire and Lilly Fidler, Taylor Smith, Emily and Danielle Buffington; and great-great grandchildren; Savannah and Spencer Berry, Aliyah Middleton; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.  The children always loved going to visit “Mom-Mom Buff!”  Betty was predeceased by her parents; Willis E. Everhart and Martha Ward Everhart, as well as one sister, Dorothy Groff, and one brother, James Everhart.

Betty was a wonderful homemaker with the gift of hospitality, who enjoyed cooking delicious meals, keeping a meticulous house and spending time with her family. 

She was a faithful member of her church, giving of her time teaching Sunday School, Bible School and working with Child Evangelism Fellowship hosting after school “Good News Clubs” for kids in the neighborhood.  Betty was an AVON representative for more than 40 years, and was a valued friend to many of her customers.  She always had time for someone in need and always took time to listen.  Even though some memories were dimmed in recent years, she continued with a warm smile, love and gratitude for all of her blessings.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Keystone Villa at Ephrata for the compassionate care they showed Mom the past two years, and for Hospice of Lancaster, who assisted during her last days.

A private graveside celebration of Betty’s life will be held with family at Northwood Cemetery, Downingtown, PA.
