Elizabeth “Betty” Arters, age 78, of Downingtown, PA, passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Paoli Hospital.
Betty was born and raised in Downingtown, PA, to the late Mario (Meyer) D’Attilio and Edith (nee Donia) D’Attilio.
Betty worked for many years as a secretary at West Chester University. When she had her children, she focused her time (and life) on them. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and wife. Betty loved God and her family greatly. She had a special devotion to our Blessed Mother. She was beautiful externally as well as internally. She had a beautiful and big heart, and the kindest and most generous soul. She had the funniest personality that everyone loved. She was just fun to be around. We were so lucky that our family shared many great memories together and will be able to reflect on them during this extremely painful time.
Our family remembers reading a quote from when she was crowned Harvest Queen for Downingtown Junior/Senior High School. Betty said, “it is nice to be important, but it is more important to be nice”. So true, above all, kindness should always be in the forefront and that is how she lived her life.
Betty is survived and will be greatly missed by her husband William “Bill”, whom together shared 58 years of marriage, two daughters; Wendy A. Arters (husband, Yilmaz Tasci) and Jody Arters and 1grandchild, Marion Elizabeth Smoot who she adored, as well as, many loved extended family members and friends.
A liturgy will be held on July 2, 2018, 10:00 AM, at St. Agnes Cemetery, Our Lady of Fatima Mausoleum, 1050 Pottstown Pike, West Chester, PA 19380.
