Edward James MacKrell

Edward James MacKrell, 79, of Coatesville was called home with his beloved wife holding his hand, on Friday, April 29, 2022.  

Born in Williamsport, PA, he was predeceased by his father, Edward L. MacKrell, his mother, Mildred Eubank and his brother, Charles MacKrell. 

Eddie was a loving man and always made being a good role model for his children his first priority. He was a wonderful husband, and excellent father and grandfather. He always took time before or after he worked to give his children love, small notes of encouragement and to be there any time they needed him. He did his best to instill all of the right aspects of life in them both with love and patience. He was a man of faith and attended Faith Community UMC.

He was a proud Navy veteran and loved sharing stories of the aircraft carriers he was on and his travels.  He was employed for 35 years with Sun Company in Marcus Hook.  He and his wife built their dream home in Gap, PA and he enjoyed working around the home and landscaping the yard.  He was a jack of all trades and could fix just about everything, which he continued to do after retiring.   Eddie loved his years of coaching his son’s Little League. He was an avid Phillies fan, enjoyed drawing, golfing and especially reading. He was never without a book.  He especially looked forward to going to Turks and Caicos, his favorite of all vacation places, where he enjoyed snorkeling.  He loved wildlife and the beauty of his woods, sitting on the back deck watching the birds or animals that would visit.   After he became ill he missed his former life and his world became much smaller and confined, but he is now in paradise with his heavenly Father and healed.  He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne (Jody) MacKrell; daughter, Lisa Bilinski (Jon); son, Mark MacKrell; sisters, Patricia Lanyon (Rich) and Amy Dellapenna (Rocky); brother, Wallace MacKrell (Bonnie); his two grandsons, Matthew Dilks (Whitney) and Logan MacKrell.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, PA, where family and friends will be received from 9:45 until 10:45 am.  Interment will be held privately with the family. 

In lieu of flower, memorial contributions may be made in Eddie's memory to Mainline Animal Rescue or Alzheimers Research Foundation
