Edward Joseph Dymek, 89, of Downingtown, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Brandywine Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Rosalie T. Szymanska Dymek, with whom he shared 69 years of marriage.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of the late Joseph Edward and Virginia Kosciuszko Dymek.

Edward proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp and enjoyed traveling all over the world with the Marines. He was a member and Past Commander of the Marine Corps League – Chester County Detachment. He was a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans. Edward served as the East Caln Township Supervisor for 36 years and during that time, he was the President of the PA State Association of Township Supervisors. He was involved with the Downingtown Fire Companies for over 32 years and in 2011 was made an honorary Chief.

He was instrumental in developing the second computer and worked with space and defense computer systems for Burroughs and Unisys for over 36 years before retiring in 1986. He was also an initiator for the building of the Route 30 bypass.

In addition to his wife, Edward is survived by his children, Diana Ripple (Bruce), Joseph (Donna), David (Beverly), Paul, Sharon Dormer (John) and Karen Romans. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Jessica, Eddie, Ashley, Ryan, Erin ( Bob )Pyle and Jadon and by three great grandchildren, Christopher, Lillie and Shyan. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Leonard; a daughter-in-law, JoAnn Dymek, a grandson, Thomas, granddaughter Emily

An evening viewing will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 2017 at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown and again on Monday morning from 9-10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 338 Manor Avenue, Downingtown followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m..

Interment will be held privately with the family in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, Pa at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Marine Corps League – Chester County Detachment #286, PO Box 828, Downingtown, Pa 19335.
