Edmund James Purdy Jr., 92, of Honey Brook PA, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2022 at Tel Hai Retirement Community.
Born in Philadelphia, Ed was the son of the late Edmund and Mildred (Chattin) Purdy. He was the husband of Patricia (Adams) Purdy for 59 years. Ed was a graduate of Upper Darby High School, class of 1948; earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at Lehigh University in 1952; and his MBA from Temple University in 1961. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1955. Ed worked at PECO for 36 years; was a member of Alpha Chi Rho Fraternity, St John’s Presbyterian Church (Devon), Honey Brook Presbyterian Church, and Devon 50 Boy Scout troop. He enjoyed trains, watching college and professional sports, and wrote a book on Total Quality Management.
In addition to his wife, Ed is survived by his sons: Edmund Purdy III, husband of Anne, of Lansdale, PA; Gregory Purdy, husband of Robin, of Liberty, PA; and Jeffrey Purdy of Shippensburg, PA; Grandchildren: Douglas Roccato, Carolyn Purdy, and Owen Purdy; great-grandchildren: Harper, Emmaline, and Duncan Roccato.
A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on January 21, 2023 at Tel Hai Retirement Community, 1200 Tel Hai Circle, Honey Brook, PA 19344.
