Earlene D. Walls

Earlene D. Walls, 73,  passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. She previously resided in Boothwyn. 

Earlene is survived by her beloved husband Kenneth T. Walls and they shared 46 years of marriage.

Born in West Chester on September 23, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Harold C. Carter and Mildred Jones Carter. Earlene graduated from Bishop Shanahan High School in West Chester in 1961 and went on to pursue a degree in childhood education from San Francisco State University. Once she returned home from California, Earlene worked at West Chester University for numerous years as a member of the Administrative team in the Provost office. She also was employed in the family electrical contracting business, Pro Electric. Earlene continued her employment as a teacher at Children’s Corner Nursery School in West Chester.  Before her retirement in 2002, she worked for 13 years as a Branch Manager for the Fair Isaac Company in Delaware.

Earlene was a very active member in her community. She was a member of the NAACP of Chester County and a Girl Scout leader for several years. Earlene volunteered at St. Joseph School in Aston in numerous capacities from a as a chaperone on school trips to a computer technology teacher. After she moved to Downingtown, she became an active member of St. Joseph Church of Downingtown and served as a Eucharistic Minister.

In addition to her husband, she leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Monica Walls Miller (Joseph) of Downingtown; one sister, Mildred “Mit” Joyner (Hon. J. Curtis) of West Chester; Jeffrey Stanton (Lizzette) of Harrisburg; two grandsons, Kenneth Miller and Carl Joseph Miller; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Besides her parents, Earlene was predeceased by her brother Harold “Rocky” Carter (Charlene).

Her Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 11 am with a viewing from 9:30 to 10:45 at St. Joseph Church, 338 Manor Avenue, Downingtown. Interment to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Penn Medicine Neighborhood Health Hospice, 795 E. Marshall St., Suite 204, West Chester PA 19380.
