Earl H. Sylvester Jr.

11/28/1952-12/31/2017

Earl (Slim) Sylvester Jr., West Chester, PA, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at his home. He is survived by his wife, Joanne (Whiteman), mother Elizabeth (Bucci) and sons Damien (Gwen) and Jason (Cassie) Sylvester. Earl also leaves his brother David and sister Tracey (Reese) along with many friends and family that no doubt will smile as they remember his one of a kind personality.

Earl worked at Earl’s Amoco with his father from the late 1960’s to the mid 1990’s. He genuinely enjoyed taking care of his customers there. It brought much joy to his life to know that he helped the community with their needs through the gas station. He always prized the Amoco years as his most favorite.  He created many long lasting friendships through the gas station. It was the hub of many memories and funny characters. If you lived in West Chester during those years, Earl’s Amoco is a spot you’ll never forget.

After the gas station, Earl worked with many great people at TSD, Wegmans, and especially enjoyed his time at the Bate’s Motel frightening people. He ended his working years at Napa in Downingtown in order to undergo treatment for cancer. After his cancer went into remission he spent his days watching old movies, supporting his wife with the day to day, and helping his sons with anything they needed. His family could always count on him.

He loved spending time with his family, going cave hopping, to the beach and the mountains. He spent his early years running around with a wild crowd, on his motorcycle and cruising around in his hot rods. The stories of his past are legendary and sometimes unbelievable. Anyone that knew Earl knows that he had a heart of gold and cared so much about those he loved. His life and his memories will live on through all of us and his love will be felt forever. He will truly be missed.
