Dr. Gary Anthony Gabriele (Gabe), 67, of Downingtown, PA, passed away on May 14th surrounded by his family.
Born in Burlington, VT to the late Antonio and Helen Gabriele, Gary graduated with a BS degree from Norwich University and a Ph.D. from Purdue University. He married the love of his life, Cynthia (Bilodeau) Gabriele on June 7, 1975. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, friend and professor. He shared his love of learning with his four daughters and grandchildren, Maci Currey and Michael Fantauzzi. One of his great passions was sailing, where he spent many summer days with friends and family. Over the past 12 years, he devoted his passion for teaching and learning to Villanova University, where he proudly served as the Drosdick Endowed Dean of the College of Engineering.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Cindy, his four daughters, Jennifer (Seth) Currey, Jacqueline Gabriele (Erik Toohey), Amanda (Michael) Fantauzzi, Michelle Gabriele; two grandchildren, Maci Currey and Michael Fantuazzi; sister Mary Louise Gabriele, niece Lisa Seeley and nephew Joseph Tyo; brother Anthony D. Gabriele, nephews Anthony J. Gabriele and Thomas Gabriele; sister Carol Gabriele, nephews Mason deBlois and Asa deBlois; sister-in-law Jacqueline (James) Smith, nieces Sarah Flinn and Rebecca Flinn, Barbara (Scott) Davis and Steph Smith; and brother-in-law Polycarpe Bilodeau.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Gary’s life on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Church, 120 St Elizabeth Dr., Chester Springs, PA 19425, visitation will be held from 9AM-10:45AM, followed by a Memorial Mass at 11AM. Interment is private.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Gary’s name can be made to the College of Engineering at Villanova University.
