Dolores A. Lyons

Dolores A. Lyons (nee McNamara) passed away in the Nursing Care Unit of the Tel Hai Retirement Community on August 26, 2018 at the age of 89. Born in Philadelphia, she was a graduate of West Catholic High School for Girls. She spent most of her adult life living in Wilmington, Delaware where she was a homemaker raising two children.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Lawrence H. Lyons, and her brother John (Pat) McNamara. She is survived by 2 brothers, Rev. Donald and Peter (Carole) McNamara; sisters in-law, Sr. Bernadette, Madelyn and Helen Lyons.

She is also survived by one son, Lawrence Lyons, M.D. and his wife Anne of Santa Fe, NM; one daughter, Anne L. Brown of West Bradford PA, and her husband Donald, with whom she resided prior to entering Tel Hai. “Nana” will be lovingly remembered by her 4 grandchildren Colin (Amy) Lyons, Darcy (Ron) Lyons, Christie (Ross) McNeil, and Emma (Dan) Hunt; and 2 great-grandchildren – Avery and Camryn McNeil – as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dione, Henrietta and Missy who lovingly cared for her at Anne’s home; as well as the staff at Tel Hai Meadowbrook and Compassus Hospice.

A Mass of Christian Burial is being planned for mid-October. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the charity of your choice.
