Dennis A. Sheehan, 69, of Downingtown, passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Helen M. FrankenfieldSheehan, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Joseph and Dolores Harding Sheehan.
He was truly blessed to have experienced a wealth of love and life and wear a smile through it all. His positivity was truly infectious. Dennis always wanted to bring a smile to your face or to brighten your day. It began with his family life, an early love of sports and the fraternity of playing neighborhood basketball. He graduated from Monsignor Bonner High School and started his collegiate career at Philadelphia University, formerly Textile, where he played basketball. He continued his studies as he moved on to work for the Consolidated Rail Corporation in Information Technology where he served in many roles.
Outside of his early experiences and career at Conrail he continued his love of teaching sports and family through coaching at-risk children in Philadelphia, family members and other members of our community.
He loved life and the adventures that it brought, from traveling the world, to simply reading a book on the beach until sunset. It was never just about him, he wanted to make sure that everyone was taken care of and included. Even as he was reaching his final days he was still texting, calling, and checking in with those he loved.
But most of all he was a family man. He was the perfect sibling to his sisters and younger brother. He was caring and loving. Dennis was a man who you could talk to about anything and feel listened to. He was their best friend. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather. The light that brightened the room. The smile that warmed your heart. Dennis was the neighborhood dad who every kid wanted to come outside and play. He was a man who truly understood that all we have todecide is what to do with the time that is given to us and what impact you can have with that time. He lived this to the end, bringing his family together to remember that the most important part of the world is the love we all have for each other.
In addition to his wife, Dennis is survived by his children, Patrick M. Sheehan, Margaret (Megan) A. Dollar (Duval) and Amanda L. Frankenfield; his sister, Joanne Russo (Lou); his brother, Joseph Sheehan (MaryAnn) and by three grandchildren;Liam and Molly Sheehan and Duval Dollar. Dennis was predeceased by his sisters, Debbie and Jackie.
