On Sunday, January 27, 2019, Dennis Richard Irwin passed away peacefully at the age of 72 at Neighborhood Hospice after enduring a painful battle with cancer.
Dennis was born Feb. 24, 1946, in Coatesville, Pa. where he was a lifelong resident. Dennis was the loving and supportive husband of Linda Strite Irwin, with whom he shared 46 years of marriage. A 1964 graduate of Scott High School and a member of Trinity Episcopal Church for 50 years, Dennis was an accountant by trade, and was known to his friends and family for his quick wit and dry sense of humor.
Dennis was an avid car enthusiast, enjoying NASCAR every weekend, detailing cars and making miniature garages in his spare time. If it had four wheels, Dennis loved it.
Dennis was preceded in death by his father Park and mother Virginia. In addition to his wife Linda, he is survived by his brother Kenneth Irwin (Sue) in Wisconsin, Aunt Dot Johnson, of Downingtown, in-laws Margie and Fred Winstead (Arizona), Ned and Kay Strite (Florida), Tom and Dianne Strite (Virginia), 11 nieces and nephews and 16 great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Terry Funeral Home on Saturday, Feb. 2, at 11 am, with a visitation beforehand from 9:30-10:45 am. A graveside service will follow at the Braford Cemetery in Marshallton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dennis’ memory to the American Cancer Society.
