David Randolph Smith, age 87, of Exton, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at the Hospice House in Ridley Park.
David was born in Nashua, New Hampshire, to the late S. Randolph and Grace (nee Wagner) Smith.
David worked for T/E School District for 32 years, and served as the Principal at Hillside Elementary School for 25 years. He met his met his “future wife” Suzanne, in 1957 at a teachers’ bowling party. David loved bowling with his school group. David was most known for his delicious meals, and whipping up thanksgiving dinners. His pride and joy was his family, and spending time with his grandson and their canine companion, Blue.
In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his brother Richard “Dick” Smith.
David is survived and missed by his loving wife, Suzanne H. Smith, whom together shared sixty years of marriage, son Peter, daughter–in-law Christine “Chris” Smith, daughter Kathleen “Kat” Smith, grandson Thomas Smith, sister-in-law Mimi Smith, and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for David will be held on Friday, April 12, 2019, at 11am, at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, PA 19335, where family and friends will be received from 10am-11am. Interment is private.
