Daniel Mitchell Thomson
March 16, 1982 ~ September 11, 2023 (age 41) 41 Years Old
Daniel Mitchell Thomson, 41, of Coatesville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 11, 2023.
Born in West Chester, he was the son of Kimberly A. Thomson (nee Felker) of Glenmoore and the late R. Kent Thomson, who passed away in December 2021.
After graduating from Coatesville Area Senior High School in 2000, Dan went on to attend Millersville University and pledged as a Brother of the Acacia Fraternity.
Following in his family's footsteps, he worked for Verizon as a Service Technician for the past 18 ½ years and was a member and active supporter of the Communications Workers of America, Local 13000.
Dan loved a good road trip and looked forward to beach vacations in Ocean City, New Jersey with the Thomson and Leaf families.
He was a puzzle enthusiast and enjoyed being outdoors; on the water kayaking or tubing, or in the yard growing different plants and flowers – a passion he shared with his mom.
Dan was fascinated with astronomy; the stars in the night sky, planets, and the solar system. He never missed an opportunity to see a meteor shower.
He loved going to Air Shows and was particularly fond of the Blue Angels. He also had a well-rounded appreciation for music and enjoyed listening to vast array of styles and genres such as Motown, funk, soul, folk, rock, blues, and southern rock.
In addition to his mother, Dan is survived by a sister, Kelly Thomson Osgood, and her husband, Alain Osgood; nieces, Genevieve, Evangeline, Delaney and Rosalyn; nephew, Rowan; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 20th from 4 to 5:45 pm at the Coatesville Location of the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 1060 W. Lincoln Hwy, Coatesville, where Dan’s funeral service will be held at 6 pm.
For those unable to attend, a livestream of the service will begin at 5:50 pm and can be seen by clicking here.
In honor of his dad, who battled Parkinson’s disease for many years, contributions in Dan’s memory can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
