Dale M. Syx, 64, of Coatesville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on the morning of Monday, July 16, 2018.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1954, Dale was the son of Carl and Grace Syx (nee Bailey).
He was the loving husband of Mary Syx (nee Rusden), with whom he shared 45 years of marriage.
Dale was passionate about gardening (sunflowers being his favorite), the Phillies, and fishing. Music was also one of his passions, as he would sporadically burst into song, and in younger years he wrote songs as well as poetry.
Throughout his life he had many careers. In high school he ran a deli and wrote a sports column in the local newspaper. In his twenties and thirties, he traveled most of the east coast installing conveyors in warehouses.
Dale worked at Parkway Dry Cleaners in West Chester for almost 20 years before ending his career at West Chester University as an HVAC Maintenance Technician. Nicknamed Doc, if it was broken he could fix it, and if he couldn’t fix it, he would figure out how. He loved to know how everything worked.
In addition to Mary, Dale is survived and remembered by his children; Christine Syx (John Perry II), Scott Syx (Shannon), and Alicia Syx (Alexander Santiago), his grandson John Perry III, as well as his siblings Carl “Franky” Syx Jr. (Elsie) and Paula Cattell (Jim), as well as well as many nieces and nephews. We ask in his honor that you spend time with your family, cherish every moment, and make as many memories as you can.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dale’s honor can be made to C.A.S.T. for Kids, a charity that helps mentally disabled children go on fishing trips. http://castforkids.org/
