Tribute

Cordelia Cook Wanta MacArthur, 90, passed away on May 21, 2022, surrounded by her family in Downingtown.

Born in Coatesville, PA she was a daughter of the late Marshall and Christine Cook.   A Chester County resident her whole life, Cordelia graduated from Scott High School in Coatesville in 1950 and continued her education at Penn State College.  She worked as an Art Therapist for special needs patients at Embreeville State Hospital and was a founding member of St. Joseph’s People at St. Joseph’s Church in Downingtown.

Cordelia enjoyed fox hunting and attending horse shows throughout the area.  She will dearly missed by family and friends.

She is survived by her children, George Wanta, Gloria Hawkes (John), Ruth Mattioni (Greg) and Charles Wanta (Terry); grandchildren, Rebecca Swiatek (Mike), Linda Molendyke (Kris), Michelle Mattioni and Noah Wanta; great grandchildren, Harper Swiatek, Tinsley Swiatek and Maxine and Calvin Molendyke; and sisters, Charlotte Ward and Corrine Baliff.  Cordelia was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Wanta in 1967; and her brothers, Edwin Cook and Delmar Cook. 

A private graveside service will be held for the family and a Memorial Mass at St. Joseph Parish in Downingtown will be held at a later date.
