Chester “Chet” Kapinski, 85, of Coatesville, Pa. passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 after a lengthy illness. He was the loving husband of the late Laura (Phillips) Kapinski with whom he shared 35 years of marriage before her passing in 1999.
Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Chester & Mary (Piekacz) Kapinski Sr.
A 1947 graduate of Coatesville High School, Chet served our country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War. In 1995, he retired from Pepperidge Farm after working 45 years as a Maintenance Supervisor.
Chet loved to hunt, fish, golf and spend time with his family. A master archer, as a young man he was the Tri State Champion in the XAA. He was an original founder of the “Low Price Spread,” located in Saxton, Pa. He was also affiliated with the American Legion, VFW, St. Anthony’s, the Moose Lodge, and various Sportsmens Clubs. He loved to go to the casino, travel, and enjoy the company of friends at St. Anthony’s lodge in Downingtown. Quite the gardener, Chet loved to share his bounty with family and friends. His tomatoes were legendary. But most of all, Chet was a caring husband, loving father, “Uncle Sonny”, loyal friend and awesome Pop Pop.
Chester is survived by his children Edward Kapinski, Robin Supplee (George), and Rhonda D’Annunzio (Vince). He is also survived by five grandchildren, Sydney and Alex Supplee, and Brock, Jake and Cole D’Annunzio.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Walter Kapinski, Jeanette Barnes, Jennie Reczek, Tessie Urbine, Harriet Sychterz, and Ida Kuryloski.
A memorial service for Chester will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at 3 pm from the James J. Terry Funeral Home 736 E. Lancaster Ave Downingtown where friends may call from 1:30 to 2:45 pm.
