Charles William "Bill" McLean, Sr., 85, of Exton, passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Paoli Hospital.
Born in Bridgeville, PA, Charles was the son of the late Wallace and Margaret (Rowley) McLean.
Charles is survived by his children: Margaret (Meg) Dina, wife of Roy, of Springfield, Charles W. McLean, Jr. of Exton, and Edward McLean of Coatesville; his life-long soulmate: Betty L. Dawson and her family: Robyn Peterman, wife of Michael, Vanessa Broomfield, Glen Broomfield, and Alto Broomfield; grandchildren: Ian McBride, (Cherie), Adam McBride, Erin McBride, James Dina, Eddie McLean; and a sister, Peggy, wife of Clint (Cap) and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his siblings: Wallace, Howard Alexander (Shorty), Thomas, and Kay, as well as his Aunt Myrtle, who had a nurturing role in his upbringing.
Bill proudly served in the US Air Force. Bill was a lifelong member of the Williamson Masonic Lodge No. 309, F.&A.M.. His love of the beach lead him to regularly travel to Ocean City, NJ. He loved the casinos and the boardwalk. He loved scratch-offs, listening to music, the Philadelphia Phillies, his 1958 Ford Fairlane Convertible, and of course, his family and friends. His ability to tease people made everyone laugh out loud.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 22 at James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown at 11:30 AM. A visitation will be held from 10:15-11:15 AM. It is kindly requested that all guests wear face coverings and practice social distancing.
