Charles William Gay

Charles William Gay, age 88, of Downingtown, PA, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2019, at the PocopsonHome.

Charles was born in Albuquerque, NM to the late Floyd and Anna Gay.

Charles received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of New Mexico in Civil Engineering

Charles was a proud United States Air Force Veteran, who served honorably in Germany during the Korean War. Following his time in the Air Force, Charles worked as an engineer for ACF Industries (Albuquerque, NM), Idaho National Labs (Idaho Falls ID) and Westinghouse(Pittsburgh PA, Granbury TX and Augusta GA).He retired in 1994. 

 Charles married Louie Burleson in 1953 in Albuquerque NM.

Charles was a member of the Bridge Club at Central Presbyterian Church, Downingtown, and the Senior Group at Brandywine Hospital. His favorite pastimes includedspending time with his family and grandchildren, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, and traveling the world. His travels took him to all 7 continents and almost 100 countries. Charles was a huge dog lover, and especially adored Golden Retrievers.

In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his wife Louie (nee Burleson), and brother James Gay.

He is survived and missed by his two children; Bruce E. Gay (Crystal), Valerie G. Bowe (Michael), 4 grandchildren; Amanda, Abigail (Luke), Kevin, and Alexander (Taylor), 1 great grandchild Brinley and brother David Gay (Ilsa).

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, December 27 2019 from 2-4 PM at the Orchard at Applecross Country Club in Downingtown 125 Bolero Drive, Downingtown PA, 19335.
