Catherine P. Tyas

Catherine Tyas (nee Giovinazzo), 91 of St. Peters, PA. Beloved wife of Frank L. Tyas for 70 years. Mother of Linda Tyas O’Leary. Grandmother of six: Kenneth, Keith (Dec), Kara, Laurel, Jocelynn and Skye. Great grandmother to Brandon, Keira, Sierra, Bryce, Landon and Ryder.

Catherine was born and raised in Mt. Airy, PA. One of seven children of Maria and Frank Giovinazzo. Catherine and Frank were married in in 1946 and are members of St. Elizabeth’s Church in Glenmoore PA. Frank pre-deceased Catherine in July of 2017 at the age of 91. Catherine served on the Liturgical committee for many years.

Catherine is known for her joyful and positive outlook on life and deep spirituality. She and Frank enjoyed a fruitful life together and lived with their daughter and family for the past twenty years. She will be deeply missed by her devoted family and all those who have had the joy of knowing her beautiful heart, her unending love and contagious humor. Catherine’s love of family was the focus of her life. Caring for those around her was her talent. The kitchen was never closed and everyone enjoyed the sumptuous feasts she created – whether it be a family dinner or a special event……she did it all to the max! Blessed with a deeply kind and compassionate heart, she cared for the physical and spiritual needs of friends and family, always going the extra mile to help those in need. Her love for her adoring husband and daughter and grandchildren knew no bounds. Catherine was the epitome of grace and strength throughout her life.

Her trademark was her smile. A smile that will be missed by all but remembered forever! She will be “Forever in our hearts” with gratitude for all the beautiful moments we have shared in our lifetime together.

A visitation will be held from 8:45 to 9:45 am on Monday, April 23rd at St. Elizabeth, 100 Fellowship Rd., Chester Springs, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am. Interment will be in All Souls Cemetery.
