Catherine Lorraine Levy, 54, passed away peacefully on November 14, surrounded by family. She was diagnosed with brain cancer in April 2022.
Born in San Leandro, California, Cathy graduated nursing school in 1992. She began her career at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as a floor nurse. During her nearly 30-year career, she also was a research nurse and most recently a grants manager. On the weekends, in different times in her life, Cathy cared for people at both ends of the lifespan, working at Shady Grove Fertility Clinic helping families bring new lives into the world, and also working as a hospice nurse, caring for patients at the end of their life.
She loved nursing and was very proud of accomplishments. But what made her most proud was watching her two sons grow into their own careers; her oldest a civil engineer in the land development field, and her youngest continuing her legacy, graduating from nursing school to begin his own career as a Cardiac Care ICU nurse.
She is survived by her husband of more than 30 years, Andrew Levy, her sons Joshua Levy and Johnathan Levy, along with her mother Myrn Wiebe (Gordon, predeceased), father David Perry (Julie Perry), and siblings Michael Perry (Denise Perry), Sarah Perry (Jarrod Riggs), and Daniel Perry (Michael Serapiglia), as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Cathy’s name to Johns Hopkins Hospital Department of Neurosurgery.
