Carmela Capetola Pantalone, 89,  formerly of Exton, passed away Saturday, March 30,  2024 at St. Martha's Villa in Downingtown.  

She was the beloved wife of Palmerino Pantalone who passed in 2021.

Carmela was born in Roccamontepiano, Italy on September 26,  1934. She came to America in 1955. She was the daughter of the late Laura, Genoeffa, and Antonio Capetola.

She was a parishioner of Ss. Philip and James Church in Exton.  

Carmela was a kind, loving and generous person who was very devoted to her Catholic faith.

She worked for Wyeth Laboratories in Malvern for 19 years. She was an excellent seamstress who learned the trade while growing up in Italy. Carmela enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, bowling, and traveling.  She was famous for her pizzelles, pancakes, Italian wedding soup and meatballs and "gravy".

Carmela was a member of the YMCA where she enjoyed the silver sneakers program. 

While living at St. Martha's Villa she enjoyed mass, rosary, bingo, and doing many crafts. Her favorite pass time was doing word search puzzles because she learned new words in English!

Carmela is survived by her children, Geni Bammer,  Anthony Pantalone (Linda),  Lisa Mattioni (Dave)  and by her pride and joy grandchildren, Dina, Alyssa, Anthony (Diana), Maria, Gina, Thomas and her great-grandaughter Anna. She is also survived by her best friend and sister Lidia Giurastante.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Pasquale, Ernesto and Italo Capetola and her son-in-law, Bob Bammer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, April 5, 2024 at Ss. Philip and James Church, 723 E. Lincoln Highway, Exton.  Family and friends will be received from 9:45-11:15 a.m.

Entombment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, West Chester.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Ss. Philip and James Church.
