At age 86 and after a long and brave battle with several illnesses, Betty G. Foreman passed away at home with her daughters by her side.
Betty was born in Clifton, NJ to Mary Maccia Gilken and Edward Russell Gilken, Sr.. She resided in Chester County her entire life.
She is survived by her two daughters , Dr. Judith Curiel and Brenda Foreman, her brother, Edward Russell Gilken, Jr., all of Downingtown.
On October 18, 2021 she exchanged rings and had a commitment ceremony with her longtime friend who she called “the love of her life”, Richard Morgan of Kenansville, Florida.
Betty worked for a local doctor and at The Downingtown Library while raising her girls, and when they were teens, she returned to college. She attended West Chester University and became a Special Education teacher. She loved teaching, and taught for 27 years at the CCIU.
Betty was a member of St. James Episcopalian Church where she sang in the choir as a teenager and later taught Sunday School.
She was proud to have been President of the Junior Woman’s Club of Downingtown. She loved her family, her dogs, Christmas, rum raisin ice cream, beach vacations, shopping and the music of Tom Jones. Recently, whenever she was in a car, she would ask to listen to the Bruce Springsteen station and swing by Starbucks for an Iced Chai Latte. Also, in recent years, she enjoyed going to shows at People’s Light and The American Music Theatre.
The burial will be private.
