Arthur Kurt Gunther, 83, passed away on April 15, 2022, while visiting the state of Florida. He was the widow of Ellen S. Gunther, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage.
Born in Havertown, PA, he was the son of the late Carl Friedrich Gunther and Alvina Henretta Wackes. He graduated from Havertown High School and Williams Trade School. Throughout his career he worked for Boeing, Pollution Control and Crystal Concrete Construction as an owner, project manager, draftsman, and estimator.
After spending many years boating on the Chesapeake Bay with their children & grandchildren, Kurt and his wife moved to Florida where they enjoyed life in the sun and on the water. Prior to moving back to Chester County, Kurt and Ellen operated and lived at the Cove Marina in Elkton, Maryland where they were able to continue their original love of the Chesapeake Bay with their family & friends.
Throughout life he cultivated a love for rebuilding cars; a hobby that is continued by his children. He also enjoyed collecting guns and spending time at the local range. Kurt is fondly remembered for driving his hummer while wearing his favorite cowboy hat and listening to country music. He is best described as a gentle giant with unmatched hugs. He was a compassionate listener and enjoyed sharing an enviable repertoire of stories from his past. His sense of humor, commitment to his family, love for his wife, and determination to enjoy every experience built the foundation of our family.
He is survived by three children Kurt (Judy), Fred (Candice), Laura Hasen (Mark); twelve grandchildren Kimberly, Malinda Collins (James), Kristen Finkbohner (Andrew), William Hasen, Chase (Alexandra), Blake, Brooke, Drew, Bobby & Josh Kohl, Natalie and Katie Hornberger; and six great grandchildren Addison, Owen, Logan, Greyson, Lincoln, Weston; and his beloved dogs Bentley and Bear. Three sisters and one brother predeceased him.
