Annie M. (Lutz) Preston, age 81, of Downingtown, PA, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Annie was born in Baumstown, PA, to the late John H. and Lillian (nee Oxenford) Heckrote. She was the seventh of nine children.
Annie moved to Downingtown with her first husband Richard, where she raised a family of three grateful children. She shared 23 years of marriage with Richard, until his death in 1978.
Annie then went to work for the Downingtown School District and later Chester County Hospital, where she met her second husband Malcolm. She retired from the Hospital in 1994.
Over the years, Annie has been a devoted caretaker and homemaker, always putting her family first above her own needs. She was an excellent cook and specialized in making delicious desserts and cookies. Nothing made her more happy than to see others enjoying her meals. In her spare time, Annie was passionate about tending to her home and flower beds. She always had a green thumb, raising beautiful roses, calla lilies, orchids and African violets. For many years, she traveled with her husband Malcolm throughout the United States, making several trips to her favorite location Las Vegas, NV.
Annie is survived by her loving husband Malcolm C. Preston, whom together shared 33 years of marriage, and her sister Elizabeth Eckert of Newmanstown PA. She is also survived by her 3 children, Richard (Pia) Lutz Jr., Bonnie Lutz, and George Lutz (Spencer Pyle); 4 grandchildren, Lucas (Lindsay) Lutz, Brian (Katie) Lutz, James Lutz, and Abria Lutz; 1 great grandson Brian Lutz Jr, and her beloved dog Bailey. She will be extremely missed by her family and everyone whose lives she touched.
A viewing will be held on Monday August 20, 2018 from 6-8PM at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Avenue. A second viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 from 10AM-10:50AM at Dengler Funeral Home, 144 N Spruce St, Birdsboro, PA 19508, followed by an 11AM funeral service. Burial will follow to St. Michaels Cemetery, Birdsboro, PA.
