Andrew Dominick Caporale

Andrew Dominick Caporale, 72, of Dillsburg, PA, formerly of Downingtown, passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.

Born in West Chester, Andrew was the son of Anna (Porecca) Caporale and the late Nello Caporale.

Andrew was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Mechanicsburg, and was formerly a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Downingtown. He was a competitive swimmer starting at an early age with St. Anthony's Lodge Swim Team.  Andrew ran cross country for Bishop Shanahan High School and continued running cross country and swimming competitively at West Chester University. He was a member of West Chester University's 1968 and 1969 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championship teams. Andrew earned a MS degree at Pennsylvania State University in 1975. He also enjoyed lifeguarding, cycling, Scuba Diving, and working outside. 

There was nothing that Andrew loved more than spending time with his family and throwing parties. He especially loved the annual Halloween party which included a bonfire and haunted trail through the woods that he always led, and ended at a pumpkin patch where he made sure every kid in the family left with a pumpkin. He loved the beach and especially enjoyed the annual trip to Bethany Beach.  He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching Penn State Football as well as the Philadelphia Flyers, Eagles, and Phillies while smoking cigars and drinking martinis. He took a great amount of pride in the fact that he, with the help of his father and brothers, built his log home, something that he passed along by helping his children build houses of their own.

In addition to his mother, Andrew is survived by his life companion: Patricia, and their children: Andrea (Jeff) Seiss, of Downingtown, Dominic (Kelly) Caporale, of Lewisberry, and Megan (Nate) Fry, of Dillsburg. He is also survived by his siblings: Linda (Francis) Bonaduce, his twin brother David Caporale, Michael (Karen) Caporale, and Kevin Caporale; grandchildren: Logan, Ava, Ella, Lexie, Brayden, Anthony, and Brysen.  Andrew is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, Andrew was preceded in death by his brother: Brian Caporale.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at 11:00am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 332 Manor Ave., Downingtown. A visitation will be held from 9:45am-10:45am at the church. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Downingtown.
