Tribute

Albert C. Menger III, age 81, of Elverson, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Al was born in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Albert C. Menger Jr. and Sarah (nee Paxson) Menger.

In 1957 he graduated from the Thomas Ranken Patton Masonic School and later served as the president of the alumni association. In 1958, Al served in the Navy, and was a proud honorably discharged Veteran, who was part of the USS Saratoga Fleet. He was a 1968 graduate of Peirce College in Philadelphia, PA and was inducted into their Wall of Fame in 1998, in 2002 he graduated with honors from Lancaster Bible College.

For 34 years, Al worked as the Vice President at the Chester County Mutual Insurance Company, retiring in 2002. He was past chairman of Pa. Association of Mutual Insurance companies and served on committees for the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies. He was employed by the Chester County Courthouse for 10 years as a tipstaff after retirement.

To put it simply, Al was very active in many organizations. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #711, of Lansdowne, and served as Past Master, and past officer of the York Rite Masonic bodies.  For many years, Al was a loyal member of Windsor Baptist  Church, where he served as a deacon and usher and even up to this present year taught Sunday School. He taught Wednesday morning  Men’s Bible study in Summerfield.  He also was the founder of the Morgantown Dunkin Donuts “Circle of Wisdom” group. He volunteered for the Salvation Army in Coatesville, as well as Transformed Life  Ministries of Coatesville.  He served as judge of elections in West Bradford Township and was an alternate delegate to the 1980 Republican National convention.

Although Al was a very busy person, he always was a loving family man, and a wonderful friend.

Al is survived and missed by his wife Pauline M. Menger, whom together shared 58 years of marriage, 2 daughters; Janet Sarah Bolich (James Oliver Bolich Jr.) and Kathryn Pauline Menger, 3 grandsons; James Oliver Bolich III, David Carl Bolich, and Kohl Menger Patton, and many extended family members and friends.

An evening viewing will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2019, 6-8pm, at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, PA 19335 On Monday, October 14, a morning visitation will be held 8am-9:15am, at Brick Lane Community Church, 52 S. Brick Lane, Elverson, PA., where funeral service will follow at 9:30am. Burial will be at 1:30PM in Hillside Cemetery, Abington, PA.
