Stowe Shoemaker, 88, of Birchrunville, Pa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Sanatoga Center in Pottstown. He was married to the late Ann C. Woodman for 59 years prior to her passing in 2013.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Stowe and Mary Alspach Shoemaker. After the premature deaths of his parents, Stowe was raised by his Aunt, Marie Probst. Stowe attended the Mount Herman School in Gill, Massachusetts. He received his Bachelor’s Degree with a major in English from Norwich Academy in Montpelier, Vermont. After graduating, Stowe worked as a salesman for Allied Chemical. In 1970, Stowe went into business for himself as a distributor of industrial plastic products. In 1993, Stowe and Ann relocated to Birmingham, Alabama. Stowe lived in Birmingham until returning to Birchrunville in the fall of 2016.
Stowe adored his family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid golfer and was always engaging in conversation.
Stowe is survived by his children, Jane Martin and her husband Barry, Stowe Shoemaker and his wife Martha and Donald Shoemaker and his wife Diane. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Christopher Martin, Alasdair Martin, Alexandra Shoemaker and Caroline Shoemaker.
A Liturgy Service will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at St. Elizabeth Church, 120 St. Elizabeth Drive, Chester Springs, where family and friends may call from 8:30 – 9:45 a.m.
Interment will be held privately with the family at a later date.
