Randall Keith Somers better known to the world as Randy passed away December 30, 2017 at his sister and brother-in-law house in Downingtown Pa. Surrounded by his family and his beloved books. He was born at Frankfort Hospital in Philadelphia Pa. March 22, 1954 to James and Hilda Davenport Somers.

When he was two his parents split up and he and his siblings were raised on their maternal grandparent farm in the Catskills in up-state New York. Randy’s grandfather Case Davenport had a most profound effect on him. They were the best of friends.

After high school Randy traveled out west, did a variety of jobs -worked in the oil fields, masonry jobs. His most serious endeavor was the game of golf. He also enjoyed mountain climbing, rafting, fishing and hunting. Before leaving the lower 48 he made a-hole-in-one in Lone Pine Ca.

In1988 he headed to Alaska to worked on the North Slope in the oil fields. He made many friends and had a plethora of adventures. He was man who was born a hundred years too late.

He was preceded in death by grandparents Case and Ethel Davenport. His parents James and Hilda Somers. Step-father Frank Sherwood and step-sister Jeannie Sherwood. Grand- nephew Sammy McKay.

He is survived by sister Karen Ottino, Liberty N.Y., sister Kristeen (Dennis) Murtagh, Downingtown Pa niece Kara Ross, Valley Pa. Niece Kimberly Ottino, Claryville N.Y nephew Scott (Rhonda) Ottino Neversink N.Y., nephew Ryan (Kate) Murtagh. Guthriesville PA. Grand-nephew Jayson Murtagh, grandnieces Kasesy, Brianna, Jessica, Paige and Addyson. Four good friends Henry Barry, Dan Yaun, Chuck Ross and Kristen Brown

A visitation will be held on January 4, 2018 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the James J. Terry Funeral Home 736 East Lancaster Avenue Downingtown Pa. and again Friday from 10 to 10:45 a.m, followed by his memorial service at 11:00 am, with Chaplain Craig Beam officiating
