Welcome to the memorial page for

Naomi Shirley Hanlon Hurley Nall

September 20, 1926 ~ September 7, 2017 (age 90) 90 Years Old
Naomi Nall, 90, of Downingtown, passed away on September 7, 2017 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Exton.

She was the beloved wife of the late Paul Hurley, with whom she shared more than 50 years of marriage and of the late Roy Nall, with whom she shared nine years of marriage.

The fourth of six children born at home in Malvern, it is hardly surprising that Naomi Nall’s precise date of birth remains a mystery, but her family celebrated on September 26th and shall continue to do so. At 16, she lost four fingers of her right hand in an industrial accident, and she was very proud to be able to do everything she needed to do in life (except cut in a straight line with scissors) with her left. She met her husband, Paul Hurley, when he carried her to the hospital after the accident and they married shortly after the end of World War II. Naomi and Paul had three children, Paul Jr., Barbara, and Joseph. In addition to being a wonderful homemaker and volunteering at her children’s school, Naomi was an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Malvern, serving as a Deacon and teaching Sunday School. Naomi worked at James Spring & Wire in Malvern until her retirement and was a devoted fan of All My Children. After retiring, she and Paul moved to Downingtown, where she enjoyed sitting outside on her porch, chatting with her neighbors, and watching the parades go by. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her potato salad was second to none.

She is survived by three children, Paul (Judy) Hurley Jr., Barbara (Harold) Rhinehart, Joseph (Joyce) Hurley; a brother, Joseph (Lynn) Hanlon; ten grandchildren, Paul (Jeanine) Hurley III, Robert (Heather) Hurley, Dawn (Jeff) Catteau, Jolie (Jason) Matkowski, Matt (Jakki) Rhinehart, Emily Rhinehart, Brad Hurley, Michael (Kate) Hurley, Amanda Hurley, and Ian Hurley; and nine great-grandchildren, Sage Hurley, Paul Hurley IV, Grace Hurley, Colby Hurley, Chelsea Hurley, Ella Catteau, Natalie Catteau, Lyra Rhinehart, and Margo Rhinehart. In addition to her husbands, Paul Hurley and Roy Nall, Naomi was predeceased four of her brothers, Art, Jack, Hob, Bill and by a grandson, Jeffrey Rhinehart.

The family will be receiving relatives and friends from 10 to 11 am on Saturday, September 16th at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 400 Lancaster Avenue, Malvern, PA 19355, followed by a memorial service at 11am. Interment will be private for the family.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Pastors Discretionary Fund at Covenant Presbyterian Church at the address above.
